Many of the improvements to performance are thanks to a number of Turing’s architectural enhancements, including the same innovations in processing complex shaders found in GeForce RTX graphics cards. You’ll find stock Boost Clocks of 1770 MHz, but you’ll find many of our partner cards boast even higher speeds thanks to their custom cooling designs. Featuring 6GB of the newest GDDR6 VRAM and a 192-bit memory interface, it outclasses the previous-generation GTX 1060’s memory bandwidth by 50%. With prices starting at $279, the GTX 1660 Ti is the perfect card for playing the latest games in 1080p. With more than 3x the speed of the GTX 960, and 1.5x the speed of the GTX 1060, you can expect performance that‘s on par with GTX 1070 for a fraction of the price. It would need to be faster than the former and cheaper than the latter to make sense.The power of the next-gen NVIDIA Turing architecture has never been more accessible, thanks to the release of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. That means the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti would be going up against both previous generation Pascal cards, and the current-gen GeForce RTX 2060. Those sales figures don't take into account the GeForce RTX 2060, which is now the most affordable RTX card on the market. "These products deliver a revolutionary leap in performance and innovation with real-time ray tracing and AI, but some customers may have delayed their purchase while waiting for lower price points and further demonstrations of RTX technology in actual games," Nvidia said. As Nvidia recently noted ever-so-bluntly, sales of its GeForce RTX cores have not met expectations, because of the premium prices and lack of RTX support in the majority of games. So, what's the point? We'll have to wait and see, but if (and this is a big 'if') Nvidia comes out with an aggressive price point, it could have something compelling on its hands. It's Turing without RT and Tensor, but the same can almost be said about Pascal. That would put it in the performance league as a GeForce GTX 1080, in a chip that's not coincidentally roughly the same size as the GP104. Theoretically it only has up to 2,304 CUDA cores, so it's basically a GeForce RTX 2070 without ray tracing or DLSS support. The lingering question we have is how the new TU116 will compare to Nvidia's existing GeForce GTX 10-series (Pascal) cards.
